HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - Another arrest has been made in the Mar. 5 deaths of two Fort Stewart soldiers.
According to the Coastal Courier, Fort Stewart Criminal Investigation Division agents arrested SPC Phillip E. Thompson late on Thursday night. He was then turned over to Hinesville Police.
Thompson has been charged with party to the crime of murder after allegedly aiding Sgt. Shaquille Craig in the murders of SPC Marquez Brown and Private Malika Jackson. Craig was arrested Mar. 9 for shooting the two soldiers.
According to HPD Detective Chris Reid, Thompson has been a person of interest since Craig was arrested. He became a person of interest based on interviews with witnesses.
These witness interviews and statements made by Thompson is what determined he played a role in the deaths.
Thompson is accused of providing Craig with a ride to and from the scene. Thompson made a first appearance on Friday morning. Police are still investigating the crime.
