RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) - A Richmond Hill City Council member has announced he'll be running for mayor this year.
Russ Carpenter made the announcement Tuesday in front of City Hall among a group of supporters. The Republican is a lifelong resident and a teacher at Richmond Hill High School.
He made the top priorities for his campaign clear Tuesday.
"I'd like to lower the water bill somewhat and get a handle on our traffic ingestion around our exits. That'd be a couple of the first things I'd tackle. Provide some recreation and enhance recreational space as well," said Carpenter.
Current Mayor Harold Fowler is in his second term as mayor and has endorsed Carpenter.
