SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Country Day School hosted their Special Olympic Games on Wednesday.
One hundred athletes came together from different counties to participate in track and field events. It gives students the chance to take a break from school and have fun with other students with the same skill sets.
"It's a chance for them to take a bus ride and get away from school, you know? They're in the classroom all year, and two times a year, we host events where they get to leave school and come out and have a fun away from school, outside in the spring," said David Hooker, Chairman of Area 17 Special Olympics.
It's a great way for kids from different areas to come together.
