SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Just in time for hot weather, a new business now open on Broughton Street to help cool you down.
Ben and Jerry's ice cream chain held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday evening. There was free ice cream for everyone who donated canned goods to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Owners Meri and Chad Scribner tell us they hope to serve up delicious scoops while making a difference in the community.
"We're going to be involving with a lot of other nonprofits throughout the season," Meri said.
"What else do we do in this world? I mean why are we really here? But to give back to other people, do something that is helpful and not just breathing and living day to day. We want to be a part of the future and raise children to be a part of their future," said Chad.
The new store is located at 25 East Broughton Street.
It is participating in Free Cone Day on April 4.
