HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says a suspicious vehicle call at Southwood Park on Hilton Head led to the recovery of a sawed-off shotgun and three arrests Wednesday night.

Officials say shortly after 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to the parking lot of the Hilton Head Gardens apartments off Southwood Park Drive on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle, a Dodge Charger, with three male occupants inside. Deputies say they could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed one of the backseat occupants had a sawed-off shotgun on his lap and several shotgun shells next to him.

All three subjects were arrested without incident.

A BCSO K-9 found marijuana in proximity of where all three subjects had been sitting in the Charger. In addition, when deputies searched the subject from the backseat, identified as 27-year-old Christopher Doville of Ridgeland, they found marijuana in his pockets.  A criminal history check later revealed that Doville was a convicted felon. He was charged with Possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and simple possession of marijuana.

The other two subjects, 28-year-old Joshua Frazier of Savannah, and 26-year-old George Williams III of Ridgeland, were charged with simple possession of marijuana.

All three subjects were transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
