POOLER, GA (WTOC) - An alleged serial bank robber out of New York was arrested at the Motel Six in Pooler on Thursday.
The U.S. Marshal Service told WTOC that a task force arrested the alleged bank robber Thursday afternoon at the motel off Highway 80 and Interstate 95.
Officials say the suspect didn't put up a fight, but witnesses say the task force members weren't taking any chances with the safety of other hotel guests.
"There's a lot of concern. The police officers warned me a couple of times there may be a guy with a gun in there and may come out shooting and for that reason wanted me to leave," said Christopher Cantwell, a witness at the scene.
A task force spokesman on the scene also told WTOC that two other people were inside the room with the fugitive and they are being detained for questioning.
No weapons or drugs were found in the room.
