Marine Recruit Death Ruled Accidental

Remember the video that got so much attention? Marine recruit Jason Tharp was struggling through training on Parris Island. In February, a news crew happened to catch him at the pool when a drill instructor shoved him. A few days later, the 19-year-old had trouble treading water in the pool and was unresponsive.

They pulled him out, but Tharp died soon after. The Beaufort County coroner ruled the death an accidental drowning.

After the shoving incident, the training depot suspended eight marines.
