SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Congressman Buddy Carter is in Savannah Thursday, meeting with business and community leaders.

The Savannah Area Employer Committee (SAEC) will hold their first meeting on Thursday, April 13, at 7:45 a.m. at the Department of Labor Career Center on White Bluff Road. Carter has been discussing job impact and growth for the Savannah area, and will be the at this meeting for a Question and Answer opportunity with attendees.

SAEC is comprised of business owners and HR professionals who have a vested interest in the economic well-being of their community and workplaces. They work in partnership with the Georgia Department of Labor to address workforce needs in the community.

The Coastal Center for Developmental Services recently appointed Felicia Wentway, Human Resource Manager at CCDS, to the Savannah Area Employer Committee in the role of Chair. Wentway will also be at the first meeting with other community and business leaders.

While in Savannah, WTOC was able to ask Rep. Carter his take on the current relationship between the United States and Russia after the bombings in Syria.

"We need to get straight on what's going on in Syria right now. That's not to be tolerated and if Russia is going to advocate for that then we have a real problem because that is totally unacceptable,” said Rep. Carter.

Rep. Carter believes Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is the right man for the job. Carter says as long as the conversation between the U.S. and Russia stays open, he thinks a solution will be found.
