SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The entire staff of the historic Lucas Theatre in downtown Savannah has been fired.
The Lucas Theatre for the Arts board made the decision to let all the employees go. The Savannah College of Art and Design financially backs the theater, which is a nonprofit.
College officials tell us that they are looking to improve the efficiency of theater operations.
SCAD officials have released a statement, saying in part that, "SCAD will continue to provide quality programming, as well as financial and operational assistance for this important pillar of the Savannah community."
The total number of positions fired was five.
