SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Local Georgia state representatives spoke at Savannah State University Monday night about "Georgia Resists."
It is a political organization tool launched by the House caucus. "Georgia Resists" aims to engage families on local and national legislative issues.
Talking to the crowd tonight, Representatives Carl Gilliard and Mickey Stephens and House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams.
"We are deeply concerned about HB 238, the campus carry bill. We want folks to leave here calling Governor Deal, asking him to veto that bill and to sustain the veto that he issued last year," said Rep. Abrams.
"Here at Savannah State, we had two incidents of gun violence. I think you're sending your kids to school to learn and I think that guns have no place on a campus," said Rep. Stephens.
The town hall stop is a part of a tour, covering Atlanta, Albany, Columbus, Savannah and more.
