CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Superintendent finalists are in town meeting with members of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System board.
The board has already narrowed down its list after receiving 97 completed applications. WTOC spoke to the search firm on Wednesday. They would not state specifically how many candidates are in town, but the board is very close to deciding.
Last week, the board held their first closed-door session reviewing all the applications they received. They then narrowed it down to a select number of candidates to bring in for an in-person interview.
Wednesday, the board met with some of those candidates during executive session.
The district is offering a $300,000 salary and benefits package, which is pretty competitive compared to other Georgia school superintendents who run districts similar in size.
Another executive session is scheduled for next week. They hope to announce who they have selected by June.
