COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Storms moving through the Midlands Thursday night left trees down and structure damage in some parts of the area.

Storm damage has been seen in parts of Holly Hill at Pine Street, including some roof damage to a strip mall. The National Weather Service will send investigators to the area Friday to determine if the damage was caused by a tornado.

We also received reports of damage out of Colleton County where a tree fell on an SUV smashed by a tree on Mount Carmel Road.  No injuries were reported.

And the National Weather Service will likely be headed to Walterboro in Colleton County to see if wind damage there was possibly caused by a tornado. Part of the roof was ripped from a home and tree limbs were reported down in many locations.

Friday morning, a tree fell in Newberry County, blocking R. Stoudemayer Road near Broad River Road.

The rains will clear out Friday afternoon with breezy cooler temperatures.

BUT, there is a great weekend ahead with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s. You may have to watch Sunday for increasing clouds late in the day.

  • Friday: A slight chance of morning showers, breezy and cooler, turning mostly sunny by afternoon. Highs near 70 percent.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, highs the lower 70s.
  • Sunday: Partly cloudy, highs in the middle 70s.
