Lindsey Lewis likes to read and play on the computer. She might seem like your typical teen, but she's actually far from it. This 18-year-old has a serious passion for politics. And to prove it, she'll debate any topic, at any time, with anyone.
"I feel like I'm led to talk about it," she said. "Even if they don't think they have a view on certain things, I'll talk to them and they'll be like 'Oh, I feel this way,' or 'Oh, I feel this way.'"
And Lindsey doesn't hold back how she feels. While the bedroom walls of most teens are covered with pop stars, Lindsey has a picture of her own. It's that of President George W. Bush. She idolizes him to no end and will defend him and his actions no matter what.
Even to her own mother. Lindsey's mom, Lori, doesn't take it personally though. "She and I have different views, but I love her just the same. She's my daughter and that's what makes the world go round. Different thoughts and minds."
And it's Lindsey's mind that has led to her success so far. This Groves High graduate wrapped up her senior year with a handful of awards for good citizenship and a near 4.0 GPA. She's headed to UGA in the fall and is looking forward to being on her own.
"My family hasn't been real hard on me, but they've always made sure I did everything I needed to do to get it done," she said. "So, in college, I want to make sure I can do it for myself and not be told to do so."
And that's why Lindsey Lewis is this week's WTOC Top Teen.
Lindsay hasn't decided on a major yet. But for after college, she is considering law school.
