Water Advisory Issued for North Tybee

There's nothing better than a day at the beach during the hot summer, but there's something you need to know before you dive in. There is a water warning for Tybee Island.

The Chatham County Health Department issued an advisory after water samples showed high levels of bacteria, which could increase the risk of gastrointestinal illness in swimmers.

The advisory area is from the north jetty to Lovell Street on north Tybee Island. The health department recommends staying out of the water. Do not swim or wade in the water.

Fish and other seafood caught from this area should be thoroughly washed with fresh water and thoroughly cooked before eating.

They'll test the water again today, and should have the results tomorrow.
