Single-Vehicle Wreck in Front of Fire Department

Wearing a seatbelt and a lot of luck saved a woman's life last night in Port Wentworth. That and the fact she wrecked right in front of the fire department, literally.

Witnesses say she veered off the road and hit a culvert. The car flipped several times, passing the fire station airborne, and landed upside down.

The engine caught fire, and a passing trucker put it out while firefighters and EMTs got her out of the tangled wreckage.

Her seatbelt trapped her in the car, but saved her life.

She wasn't carrying any identification, and she's at the hospital today.

On another sad note, she says she had her pets--two cats and a dog--in the car with her, but they ran into the woods after the wreck.
