Business Delivers Fans to Seniors

Temperatures keep going higher, but help is on the way for senior citizens in one local community. A business in Statesboro had the idea to collect fans for the elderly who don't have a way to keep cool.

During the month of June, Frills and Fancies invited customers to donate box fans. They did, from Georgia to the Carolinas all the way to Kentucky.

The store delivered 100 fans to seniors who don't have air conditioning or other ways to cool their homes.

"The temperature in a home without air can get to 115 in the summer, and the elderly can't replenish fluids like others, so it's extremely important," said the store's Sandra Hodges.

The fans went to Concerted Services, which distributed them to the seniors that visit its Statesboro center.
