Savannah Chatham Police are investigating two separate shootings that sent three people to the hospital on Sunday afternoon. The first happened just before 4:30 p.m. at 38th Street and Waters Avenue.

Police say someone shot three people in a white Toyota Corolla. They were rushed to the hospital. Officers don't believe their injuries were life-threatening. Investigators say the shootings may be drug-related. They found packages of crack cocaine near the car.

Initially, police thought the suspects were driving a grey Chevy Malibu. Shortly after the incident on 38th and Waters, a grey Malibu knocked over a fire hydrant on 39th and Live Oak Street, before speeding off. Investigators later determined that car wasn't involved in the shootings.

About an hour later, police were called to nearby 48th Street and Waters Avenue. Investigators say someone hit another car, fired shots into the air and drove off. No one was hurt; however, police are still looking for the suspects' vehicle. They don't believe the two incidents are related.

If you have any information about what happened at either incident, call police or call CrimeStoppers at 234-2020.

The Chatham County police department graduated five recruits on Friday. As a part of their commencement, they are taking part in community projects. The recent graduates took some time on Sunday afternoon to make themselves known to the homeless community.  "We have training with community order and policing," someone said.
