BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) - Starting Monday, you won't be able to use the intersection at Five Points outside Statesboro as they start paving to get the roundabout ready.
Crews started the site work back in April so pavers could widen the lanes and get ready to replace the four-way stop with a roundabout.
They'll close July 10 through 25 weather permitting.
County leaders contend it would take even longer if they opened and closed lanes to pave them.
"There are access roads. Nobody's going to be trapped away from their home. It just may be a little more inconvenient," said Bulloch County Commission Chair Roy Thompson.
Those detours will allow the county solid waste center to stay open.
Thompson says they'll open the roundabout as soon as the pavement is set. They hope that's early August, weather permitting.
