Yemassee man barricaded himself in home after attempted traffic stop

YEMASSEE, SC (WTOC) -

A man barricaded himself inside of a home and eventually climbed to the roof in Yemassee on Monday.

Police say this incident started as a traffic stop.

Yisrael Shemuel, of Yemassee, SC, reportedly fled from the stop and exited the vehicle at his home on Wall Street. We're told he then barricaded himself inside the home for several minutes before moving to the roof.

Officers were able to talk him down.

He was taken to Hampton Regional Medical Center. After his release from the medical center, he was transported to the Hampton County Detention Center. 

He is charged with one count of speeding, failure to stop for blue lights and resisting arrest.
