BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - A 2-year-old boy drowned in Bluffton over the weekend.
Police say the child was found in a lake behind the family's home in the Hampton Lake Community shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday.
"The mother and grandmother were home with the child and were changing to take the dog out. They were running around, looking for the 2-year-old. It looks like he had gone out to take the dog and he fell in the lake behind the house," said Bluffton Police Department Community Relations Manager Joy Nelson.
As far as the investigation, police say it has been closed and it has been ruled an accidental drowning.
