STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Georgia Southern University and Armstrong State University move closer and closer to becoming one.
Representatives from both schools met Wednesday, looking at recommendations on dozens of issues. That includes admission policies to student government groups and school calendars.
Georgia Southern's president said the progress has come from cooperation between people of both universities.
"It's phenomenal that in seven months' time, the amount of work these men and women on both campuses have done to bring these two fine institutions together. It's just phenomenal," GSU President Dr. Jaimie Hebert said.
The schools will officially consolidate Fall 2018.
The next Consolidation Implementation Committee is Wednesday, July 26 on Armstrong's campus.
It's from 2 to 4 p.m.
Following that, an additional meeting in August before accreditation plans are submitted.
