SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Girl Scouts are taking over the streets of downtown Savannah this weekend for QuestFest 2017.

More than 1,000 Girl Scouts and their families will trek through the streets of the Hostess City on a scavenger hunt of epic proportion as teams of girls from 21 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Canada, all take part. The weekend also includes a Girl Scout Expo presented by Imperial Sugar, a movie night at the Lucas, camping at Girl Scout Camp Low, a dinner cruise with Savannah Riverboat Cruises, a special bridging ceremony presented by Kelly Tours, a closing concert headlined by Maddie & Tae and an opportunity to explore the Girl Scout Organization’s history through several local landmarks.

Savannah Mayor Eddie DeLoach will hold an official "QuestFest" kick-off Thursday morning. Organizers say there are several memorable moments to look forward to.

"They'll get coordinates to find that, and when they get there, they'll maybe be given a couple of cans of dog food in a box to give to the Humane Society, because Girl Scouts always give back," said Sue Else, CEO of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.

The event runs July 13-16.
