VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) -

A golf course closing in Vidalia could mean losing more "green" than just the fairways.

The owner of Hawk's Pointe closed the 18-hole course on Sunday and community members hope they can find a way to reopen. The site includes a separate restaurant and a banquet hall that hosts events year-round.

The club's pro and others say it will be missed if it remains closed.

“There are so many charitable dollars raised on this golf course for charities across the community. Where will we do that at now,” said Paul Claxton, a golf pro.

They're holding a meeting Thursday night at Hawk's Pointe to look for answers.

In the meantime, managers tell WTOC they've been getting calls and emails about what exactly is included in the closure. They say this does not affect the large banquet hall or restaurant.
