SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Representatives from the Republic of Georgia are spending some time this week with Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.

The country is working on a program for community policing and hopes to learn from Metro Police in executing their plan.

"Anytime we come to the United States, we come and learn about law enforcement, we learn about the United States culture, western values and we take all these back to the Republic of Georgia and it helps build that long-lasting relationship and this important bond that we have," said INL Director Michael McMahon.

McMahon adds that it is very important for the United States to continue to partner with other countries in programs similar to this one in order to help strengthen international stability. He also adds he hopes to tell the Republic of Georgia about the success stories of Metro Police.
