TLC to talk about state of Savannah tourism in monthly meeting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The tourism leadership council is holding its monthly meeting on Thursday to talk about the state of tourism in Savannah.

TLC officials will be giving their annual report, and crime is sure to be a topic of conversation across the board, especially after the recent City Market violence with plenty of tourist around celebrating the 4th of July holiday.

Officials said this will be a no-holds-barred discussion. In 2014 the chamber said 13.4 million visitors came to Savannah, spending billions of dollars locally.

TLC President Michael Owens will be talking, and he recently said crime will not stop unless witnesses come forward. Visit Savannah President Joe Marinelli will also be speaking.

The luncheon is Thursday afternoon from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. Registration is already full for this event.
