Severe Weather Causes Damage

Yesterday's sudden, heavy thunderstorms pounded the Low Country and Coastal Empire, leaving damage behind. Winds of around 40 miles an hour ripped through the area, knocking over trees into houses, bringing down power lines and knocking out power to about 5,000 people scattered across Savannah.

One feeder line was knocked out on Whitemarsh Island, but most customers have their power back on this morning.

There was another weather spectacle in the Low Country yesterday. Take a look at this water spout in Port Royal Sound. It stayed together for a while, but never reached land, so fortunately there was no damage or injuries.
