BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A Bluffton worker is still recovering after he was burned on the job. Now, a local family is looking to make his steps to recovery a little smoother.

The incident took place earlier this month at Fat Patties on Bluffton Road after a flash fire happened in the kitchen. The business wasn't damaged, but the employee was severely burned and flown to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment. The community is coming together to show their support and love.

"We like to teach our kids to be kind to others and to help, so we thought it would be a great way to show this guy that we care for him, and we thought that a lot of other people in the neighborhood felt the same way," said Jennifer, Ellyson, and Callen Williams, who are collecting cards for the employee.

The Williams' will be collecting gifts and cards until the end of the month. They will then deliver a big care package to the employee.
