Walthourville man shot multiple times when answering door to his home

WALTHOURVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

A man was shot multiple times in Walthourville on Sunday.

According to the Coastal News Service, the man was shot when he opened his door, this from Walthourville Police Chief Bernie Quarterman.

The victim, who has not been identified, was inside his home with a friend on the 1000 block of Dunlevie Road. That's when he heard a knock on his door a little after 2 a.m. 

When he opened the door he was shot multiple times by an unknown male. When officials arrived they found the victim laying behind the door and bleeding from wounds in his legs. He was taken to the hospital.

A woman who was at the home during the shooting, and was not injured, fled the scene and was picked up by officers.
