BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Hundreds of kids in the Lowcountry got ready for the upcoming football season with a couple of former Atlanta Falcons greats Sunday.
The Kids & Pros Heads Up Football clinic welcomed nearly 200 kids to Bluffton for a day-long camp led by area coaches and former Falcon linebackers Buddy Curry and Keith Brooking.
The young players worked with the coaches on their fundamentals and on ways to make the game safer.
Brooking and Curry say they wanted the kids to take what they learned Sunday into the football season starting soon.
"I would like to grow the game of football in this area," Brooking says. "So right before the season starts, let's have this camp to create some exposure and some buzz."
"This isn't a camp where we're going to get them in shape. This is a fundamental camp where they're going to learn the techniques, and we teach it in a fun manner," Curry says. "This is kind of a great entree to what will be a great year."
Curry will bring hold two more Kids & Pros camps in southeast Georgia next week. There will be two two-day camps in Savannah and Pooler. The Pooler camp begins Monday, while the Savannah camp begins Wednesday.
