SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Summer break is winding down for many students across the Coastal Empire, and WTOC wants to make sure you and your entire family are back-to-school ready.

Right now, many are starting their back to school shopping and getting everything in place for the start of the new school year.

School officials want to make it easy for parents to stay connected to what's going on at their child's school. The school system's website is the perfect place to find essential information regarding the start of school.

School officials say there are a few things parents should know before the first day arrives.

"One big change that's not necessarily the buses or the routes is the way in which parents will get the route information. In the past, we have published a large booklet with all of the routes printed, but what would happen as they adjusted those routes throughout the first couple of weeks of school, those routes could be obsolete within a couple of days. So this year, in order to provide our parents with the most up-to-date information at all times, routes are going to be available online only," said Sheila Blanco, Public Information Officer, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.

WTOC will be your station for full back-to-school coverage across the Coastal Empire and SC Lowcountry over the next month. We will have a team of reporters bringing you stories on-air and on our Education Page at wtoc.com leading up to the first day.
