BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

The new school year will begin next week for nearly 11,000 students in Bulloch County Schools.

For students, the year starts with the first steps off the bus and into the classroom, but teachers and other staff have been working before that to get things ready for a year of learning. Bulloch County Schools Superintendent says each school will host an open house Thursday afternoon or evening, depending on their grades. He says that's a crucial time for parents to talk to teachers and get insight for the entire year.

"It's a great opportunity for everybody because it sets the tone. It shows students that we, as parents and community members, care. We're engaged and it matters to us," said Superintendent Charles Wilson, Bulloch County Schools.

Wilson also says an upcoming E-SPLOST vote in November could be crucial in helping schools grow and serve students for years to come.

The new school year begins next Tuesday.
