STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Most people use summertime travel for vacation, but one group in Statesboro is taking on a bit of a tougher task.
Thirty-five members of First Baptist Church in Lowry City, MO are spending this week doing repair work and helping at Christian Social Ministries thrift store and food bank. That includes gutting the inside of one building for future use. The church brought a group there seven years ago for similar volunteer work. Their pastor says the work is part of their calling to help others.
"One of the ways we can share the message of Christ is to show them our love through service and sacrifice," said Pastor Jeff Furgeson, Lowry City, MO.
The group comes to Statesboro because former member, John Long, moved there years ago and founded the CSM store.
