Georgia Southern, Armstrong State police departments to consolidate July 29

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia Southern University and Armstrong State University are moving closer and closer to becoming one.

Representatives from both schools will meet again on Wednesday on the campus of Armstrong to discuss the consolidation. That meeting will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

There will be an additional meeting will be held on Aug. 7 at Georgia Southern before accreditation plans are submitted.

Also, the University Police Departments at Armstrong State and Georgia Southern will consolidate on Saturday, July 29, in preparation for the universities' anticipated consolidation in January. Laura McCullough, Georgia Sothern’s Chief of Police and Director of the Office of Public Safety, will lead the consolidated police department.
