SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department honored dozens of officers and staff members Wednesday with a 'Years of Service' ceremony.

The 46 men and women recognized serve the community as patrol officers, investigators, special operations personnel, and much more. One of those honored explained what makes his job worth it.

"I feel like it's a great honor that I can continue to do the things that I love to do, and that's to get up and serve the larger community, and I am not just saying that. I really truly do believe that if we can make a difference in one person's life then we have made a difference to a broader aspect of what we are here for as a professional service, and to give the quality of professionalism," said Lt. Torrance Garvin, 25 Years of Service.

Ms. Ada Grant was recognized for 35 years of service with the police department.
