SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Chatham County Detention Center has received a perfect score from the Medical Association of Georgia.

M.A.G studies and recommends ways to improve the delivery of health care in non-federal prisons.

Every three years, facilities are surveyed. They then receive an annual accreditation maintenance report.

Chatham County received a visit last week. All 67 standards for health services that were looked were met.

"There's a lot of people that come through here, over 15,000 in a year and for us to provide constitutionally mandated health care for everyone is a challenge and we're continuing to improve on that every day." said Director Todd Freesman.

The health care provider at the jail changed from Corizon Health to Correct Health last year.

Corizon was let go after nearly providing services for nearly 18 years. The company faced several civil lawsuits over inmate care.
