SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

It was a celebration-filled morning on Thursday as many gathered for the ribbon cutting for Haven Elementary School.

About 415 students will walk through the doors next week for the start of the school year.

Haven Elementary's principal says this is something the Tatemville community deserves, and this new school helps write a new story for the students.

"I think it will promote a sense of positivity with them, give them something to look forward to. When we were at the old facility, they would see the sketchings and drawings of the new school. A lot of the younger ones were thinking that they were coming to high school," said Dionne Young, Haven Elementary, Principal.

Chatham County Schools head back on Aug. 3.
