2 suspects jailed after wreck on Victory Dr. at Ash St.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Two people are behind bars after Metro Police responded to a crash involving a stolen vehicle on Victory Drive, Friday morning. 

Police say 19-year-old Douglas Winegrass was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, improper lane usage, leaving the scene of a wreck and no license. They say 19-year-old Sean Boyd, a passenger in the vehicle, was charged with obstruction of an officer and party to theft by receiving. 

Officers responded to Victory Drive at Ash Street around 8 a.m. after a blue Toyota Tacoma crashed into a tree. Witnesses provided descriptions of two black males who were seen running from the truck after the crash. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen from a Lovett Drive home prior to the wreck. The owner told police the key had been left in the ignition. 

The suspects were found walking in the 100 block of Victory Drive. Some of their belongings were recovered from the truck. 

Westbound Victory was closed near Ash Street for some time while crews worked to clear the crash. 

The investigation is ongoing.
