BLOOMINGDALE, GA (WTOC) -

Right now many young people in our area are enjoying their last weekend of summer.

Gateway Community Church in Bloomingdale helping to close out the summer with a bang. They held a summer festival at the Bloomingdale Recreation Center.

There were fun-filled activities for everyone including live music, food trucks, bounce houses and more. The event was free but organizers were asking people to donate gently used school uniforms.

"Well, unfortunately we live in an area where not everybody has the funds and the resources to just provide, whether it be school materials or their school uniforms," said Chris Harvey, Gateway Church Director of Student Ministries. "We believe that the church is in this community for a reason, we are here to help those in need."

More than 30 volunteers from Gateway Church came out to put on the event. Gateway Church is actually building their first church - they are hoping to have it complete in about 5 weeks.
