BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

School starts Tuesday for youngsters in four Southeast Georgia counties.

Bulloch, Candler, Evans and Long counties start the new school year on Aug. 1.

Bulloch County Superintendent Charles Wilson says their school district is growing. They finished last year with just over 11,500 students in kindergarten through 12th grades, and they expect that number to grow more.

Bulloch County Schools continue to grow at 2 to 2 and a half percent per year, which is within the target range the district wants. That growth is one reason they have become more stringent on following attendance zones.

Wilson says one way they prepared for that growth was by replacing old schools over the past decade.
