BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

One person is behind bars after a police chase and manhunt that spanned between two counties.

Thomas Bryan is now being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center as an in-state hold for Jasper County.

The chaos started just before noon on Monday in Hardeeville. WTOC spoke to law-enforcement on Tuesday to learn more details as far as the timeline of events.

The manhunt ended off of Rasta Drive in the Oakview neighborhood, but it started more than 20 miles away and involved different agencies. Hardeeville Police first spotted the blue minivan on US 17 and recognized it as a vehicle that was reported stolen over the weekend. When officers got behind the car, the driver took off down 278, crashing near the entrance of Sun City.

Hours later, a car was stolen from Sun City, leading local law enforcement on another chase that had to be cut short.

"Bluffton Police, when they activated their blue lights and tried to stop that truck, they made the appropriate decision in calling it off. Speeding up, it's the middle of the day, it's a lot of traffic, presents a danger to the public. We were able to find the vehicle without any pursuits. Residents spotted the vehicle driving recklessly. We were able to find it off of Oakview Road," said Captain Bob Bromage, Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Officers also located their person of interest, Thomas Bryan, inside.

Right now, BCSO is still working to piece together Monday's events, but the Hardeeville Police Department is charging Bryan with failure to stop for blue lights and driving under suspension.
