He's gone from the Brickyard to the ‘Boro.
Kasey Kahne, fresh off a win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway a few weeks ago, was on hand in Statesboro Wednesday to sign autographs and take pictures with hundreds of NASCAR fans.
"Different areas always have different groups and amounts of people, and this one seems like a bigger one," Kahne said. "I don't think winning the Brickyard a couple weeks ago hurt either."
Several fans drove hundreds of miles. Others even camped out in the parking lot overnight, just to make sure they got a spot in line to meet one of their favorite drivers.
"I came here at 7:40 a.m. to get a ticket. There was maybe 20 people here. Went and got something to eat and came back, and the line was all the way down. Nowhere to park basically,” said Marcus Randolph.
"I've got to meet Harry Gant, Cale Yarborough, Bill Elliott. So, this ranks up there with these guys too,” said John Kindig.
From here, the driver of the #5 car is headed off to Watkins Glen for some road racing this Sunday afternoon.
