LIBERTY CO., GA (WTOC) -

Friday, it's back to school for students and teachers within the Liberty County School System.

Thursday, parents and children had an opportunity to attend an open house to get acclimated before diving into the new year.

The Superintendent of Schools telling WTOC there aren't any major policy changes for the district. And this year, the focus is on improving efforts to reach all 10,000 students.

"There were some children that, last year, we don't feel like we did as much as we should have," said Dr. Franklin Dennis Perry, Sc., Superintendent, Liberty County. "So we are going to come back this year and put the focus on all of the children. The gifted children, we want to inspire them to do better, those in the middle we want to inspire them. But now we want to bring up those bottom, the bottom of the students in our District, and just get every child to achieve."

The School System is also looking to start up weekend classes for parents to help encourage a shared involvement with students' academics.
