The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department arrested a man for the shooting death of one man and shooting-related injuries of another Thursday afternoon on West 35th Street.

Officials say at about 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of West 35th Street. Upon arrival, they found Dontray Hart, 21, suffering from life-threatening injuries and a 23-year-old male suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment. Hart later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators have determined the shooting was the result of a confrontation between Hart, the second victim and 23-year-old Dominique Jackson. Jackson was also shot during the altercation and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police say Jackson fled the scene after being shot and was quickly apprehended by officers a few streets away.

Jackson was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault.
