LIBERTY CO., GA (WTOC) -

Liberty County students are officially back in school.

Friday was the first day and students at Liberty County High School were greeted with lots of cheers.

School officials say there weren't many changes in the school system this year, but parents and students both should definitely become familiar with the policies and procedures in place. We spoke to Liberty County High's principal to learn more about her plans for the 2017-18 school year.

"Just making sure that this is a safe learning environment for all. We just want to make sure all students and scholars feel welcome while they're here at Liberty County High School. One of the district themes that we have this year is 'excellence in everything,' and that's what we want to make sure we display and demonstrate," said Principal Stephanie Woods, Liberty County High School.
