STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

The countdown to kickoff is nearing for the Georgia Southern Eagles, who continue to prepare for the 2017 season.

Right now, the Eagles are putting in their first scrimmage of the preseason. Tyson Summers and his bunch are less than a month from their season opener.

It's a big night at Paulson Stadium as the Eagles welcome everyone to Fan Fest. Georgia Southern fans will be able to meet players from the football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer teams and get some autographs. There will be inflatables and games for the kids down on the field.

The Eagles say it's really a way to get the fans ready for what they hope will be an exciting fall.

"We're hoping for a great crowd, and get the excitement and energy going for Georgia southern athletics," said Gleen Hart, Associate AD for Fan Experience. "We're looking forward to a good year. Today is the first scrimmage. Students are just getting back. School starts next week, so it's time to get everything going."
