SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Thursday, we received a few complaints from people living nearby Juliette Gordon Low Elementary School, telling us traffic was an absolute nightmare.

Friday, we looked into it. A long wait for parents trying to pick up their kids, also a long wait for residents trying to get to and from their homes.

The school's principal says they figured certain traffic patterns would happen on the first day.

"I sent them a call last night and thanked them for their patience and just give us a day or two and we can get it done efficiently and we want to be safe," said Dr. Jacob Wilson, Principal, Juliette Gordon Low Elementary. "I think safety is the number one thing. I am more interested in safety than doing it quickly."

The confusion is mainly because of a new entrance to the school this year. Buses will come along Springhill Road - while parents are supposed to use Mason Drive for  picking up and dropping off their children.

The cars and buses were both taking the same roads and that caused the traffic jam.
