The Bluffton Police Department spent the morning reconstructing a wreck that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
The department's Collision Reconstruction Unit typically takes between 3 and 4 hours mapping every piece of a collision. Lieutenant Joe George says they do this after every fatal wreck or major crash.
Three cars were involved in the crash that killed 27-year-old Jesse Floyd and her baby at the intersection of Highway 278 and Buck Island Road last month. George says they're working to get a total picture of what happened.
"What we know so far is the young lady was trying to make a turn, and her vehicle did stall. Still trying to figure out why it stalled," said George. "We'll get a point of view from where everybody else was coming to see how much reaction time they had before the collision actually occurred."
George says he's seen three or four fatalities at this intersection. The investigation will take about a month until it is finished.
