The Jasper County School District will hold an opening convocation for all employees on Wednesday. This as the first day of school is just right around the corner.

The convocation signifies the opening and welcoming of a new school year for all employees. A motivational speaker will be on hand to provide insight on how to lead students in the most powerful way. This will also be a time for employees to hear from school and board leaders regarding the 2017-18 school year and the direction the district is headed towards.

Once employees dismiss from the convocation, they will attend a faculty meeting with building level administrators.

Jasper County Schools will start back on Aug. 17, and there are some changes parents and student need to know about this year.

Jasper County Schools will have staggered start times. Elementary schools will be in session from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.; middle and high students will begin school at 8:30 a.m. and dismiss at 3:45 p.m.

Registration is required for all students, who will now have to enroll online. However, proof of residency, birth certificates, and transfer forms must still be brought to the school.

If you don't have access to the internet, you can go to the school's main office and complete the online process.
