WILMINGTON ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

Severe weather causing power outages, flooding and even fires Wednesday evening.

A sweet reunion came out of it all when a fireman reunited a displaced resident with his cat. Firefighters tell us lightning was to blame for the blaze on Wilmington Island.

Crews arrived on scene on North Cromwell Road around 5 p.m.

"We had multiple fires in multiple parts of the building," said Asst. Chief Wayne Noha, Southside Fire Department. "This also is a common attic, so it was quick spread from one end of the building to the other."

The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced residents.
