GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

It was a busy day along Chatham Parkway as students returned for the first day at Savannah Christian Preparatory School.

Seniors rolled in campus-parade style, greeted with posters and cheers from parents and students.

This year all students will be on one campus. School administration told WTOC they have over 1,200 students.

"With that, we have the new middle school building that we opened to house those middle schoolers that came over from our DeRenne Avenue campus. On top of that, we made some program changes in our sciences, hands-on science lab. So, it's a pretty exciting year to be here,” said SCPS Headmaster Dr. Chris Harmon.

Construction is currently being done on the roadway along Chatham Parkway so be on the lookout for any delays while traveling in that area.

Area businesses and commuters are asked to travel Highway 80 in lieu of traveling Chatham Parkway north of I-16 due to a significant shift in traffic flow on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 10-11. Traffic is expected to be back to normal in the area by next week.
